FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Tiny Tots is a cooperative preschool. What does that mean?

A. In a cooperative preschool, each parent is an owner of the school, and has a vested interest in their child's preschool education. As a parent, you will have the privilege to be actively involved in your child's school experience. You will have the opportunity to serve on a one-on-one basis with your child's teacher for each of your child's "Special Days".  Parents help in the classroom about once every 4-6 weeks. You will be able to get to know the students, parents, and teachers. You will be able to participate in class parties and/or special events. Parents are also encouraged to attend and to be actively involved in board meetings.

Q. What is the Tiny Tots approach to curriculum and instructions?

A. The mission of Tiny Tots Preschool is:

* To help children become aware of themselves and of their worth as human beings

* To understand the principles of sharing in play situations and attitudes

* To reinforce the child's life experiences and cultural values

* To secure a bond between home and school by maintaining close relationships with parents, by creating a home-like atmosphere at school

Q. Is there an after class program available for my child to attend if needed?

A. Tiny Tots has a very unique after-care program called Stay and Play. Stay and Play is a childcare service approved by the Board of Tiny Tots Preschool, and is administrated by a member of the Tiny Tots staff. Stay and Play can be used to extend a child's day at Tiny Tots by another hour and a half to equal 4 total hours on the premises per day. It can also be used on a day when your child is not attending class at Tiny Tots, for up to 4 hours. Stay and Play is available to each Tiny Tots family with children age 2 1/2 (and potty trained) through Kindergarten for a nominal fee. This program can help you with days you have a doctors appointment, a lunch date with a friend, or just extra time to catch up at home.

Q. Is there a snack time?

A. Yes! Snack is provided for each child's class time. The cost is included in your monthly tuition.

Q. Will my child have a supply list to purchase before the start of school?

A. No. Your child's school supplies are included in the cost of your monthly tuition.

Q. How is Tiny Tots different from a child care center?

A. Child care centers are typically open year-round from 6am to 6pm. Tiny Tots is only in session from September through May, much like a typical school schedule. Tiny Tots is open from 9am to 1pm. We have small teacher to child ratios and offer a learning environment for children ages 3-6.

Q. Will my child be going on field trips?

A. Each class will have an end-of-the year field trip where a parent accompanies his/her child.

Q. How does Tiny Tots Preschool determine their school calendar?

A. Tiny Tots Preschool determines their school calendar keeping in mind nearby school districts' calendars. Since Tiny Tots Preschool is located in Plain Township, the school follows Plain Local School closings for inclement weather.
